This weekend....

I hope you've had a wonderful Easter weekend surrounded by friends and family! Flowers are blooming, there are eggs to find, and there is chocolate galore, but please don't forget the REAL reason we celebrate this wonderful day. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, died and conquered death so that we could live in victory together with Him forever. Don't ever forget His unfathomable sacrifice! Happy Easter!

Ravelry Potholder Swap

I discovered something wonderful yesterday... The 2013 Ravelry Potholder Swap! I can't believe I hadn't heard about it. Participants in the swap make three 6" to 8" potholders and send them in. In return you will receive three potholders made by other participants. How cool is that?? What a fun way to network and share ideas with other yarn-lovers!

As soon as I read about the swap, I went straight to Hobby Lobby to pick out my yarn. The swap requires you to use 100% cotton yarn which worked out very well for me because Hobby Lobby happened to have their cotton yarns on sale this week. Meant to be, right? Since the deadline is just a week away, I quickly worked up my potholders and put them in the mail this morning to make sure they would arrive on time.

I decided to go with a granny circle pattern for my potholders and I like the way they turned out. I can't wait to see what potholders I get in return!

Now that my potholders are finished and sent, it's time to move on to the next project. Hope you've had a wonderful spring day!

Wish List || Fabulously Floral

Spring supposedly began this week. But here in Tennessee I'm not really seeing much evidence of this. In fact, school was cancelled today due to snow! In an effort to get myself in a more Spring-y, Easter-y kind of mood, I've been hunting through Etsy for some wonderful floral finds!

It'll be a while before it's warm enough to wear anything like this, but isn't it wonderful? This lovely lemon yellow dress would be perfect for Easter! I found it at the shop Five Stones Vintage.

This gorgeous watercolor print would certainly get me into a Spring sort of mood. Absolutely gorgeous! Barbara Szepesi Szucs Illustrations has a ton of nature-inspired paintings and prints.

These fabric colored buttons are precious! I'm thinking I may need to revamp a sweater or something with these beauties! I found them at Patchwork Mill.

I am in love with this M Kamenstein Enamel Floral Teapot. I have a bit of an addiction to tea. And teapots. Seriously, you'd think I was British or something. I love the colors and the flowers and the vintage look. It's perfect. Absolutely perfect. I found it at the shop Pacific Whim.

I've been meaning to make some cupcakes for a while now. I think I may need to use these wonderful Floral Lace Cupcake Wrappers. Perfect for Easter dinner with the family! Handmade by Heather 4 U has a ton of fun party supplies!

I also wanted to tell you about a wonderful little giveaway I came across last night at A Common Thread. Stefanie is giving away this triangle and brass necklace. It is designed to be worn underneath the collar of a shirt. It is so wonderful and unique. I love it!

I hope you are having a great start to your week! I'll be here crafting and starting on my Spring cleaning since I have a surprise day off of school! :)

Crochet Edge Calendar

I ordered a calendar print from Ello Lovey a few days ago and was very excited to discover it in my mailbox this afternoon. Getting mail is so much fun! All I ever get in the mail is sale ads and electric bills, so I always think it's exciting to get something good. :)

Isn't it adorable? Even the packaging is cute! I love how everything is so personalized. As cute and wonderful as I think this print is, I wanted to add a little bit of a personal touch to it. Sooo....

I decided I would give it a crochet edge! I had never crocheted onto paper before, so I was a bit nervous, but I found a very helpful tutorial here. Punching that first hole into the paper was VERY nerve-racking. I was so afraid that I was going to ruin the print. I wanted to make sure the main focus remained on the calendar, so I used some thin crochet thread and a size 1 hook. I opted for a scalloped edge because I think scallops have a simple, classic feel.

In the end, the calendar turned out exactly how I wanted. It looks so cute hanging on my fridge! Very Rachel don't you think?

Hope you're having a wonderful week!

Wishlist || Etsy

I spend too much time on Etsy. WAY too much time. Everything there is so unique. I could browse around for hours. Here are a just few of the things I've found this week:

This vintage crochet book from Hedgerow Home looks wonderful! I love the old-fashioned look of the motifs. Beautiful!

All you need are books and tea. How true is that! This would look so great on my wall. All of the prints in My Retro Nest's shop are gorgeous!

I'm not getting married and probably won't be for some time. But if I were, I would want to get married in this 1950's vintage dress. The lace bodice and cap sleeves are so pretty it makes me want to cry! Be sure to check out Concetta's Closet. It is full of wonderful vintage finds!

I adore this Autumn Leaf Aladdin style teapot. I've had my eye on this teapot for years, but I've never seen one in such good condition. Isn't it adorable?? Moonshine Vintage has a wide variety of vintage housewares that you should go check out!

This Doctor Who-inspired embroidery hoop is AMAZING!  I'm a little bit ashamed to admit how much I love this show. It's weird and nerdy and wonderful. The shop dearmoonbeams has a ton of cute embroidery hoops (several of which are inspired by Doctor Who.)

In other news, my week on the couch is shaping up to be surprisingly productive. I'm working on some wonderful new crochet jewelry to go in my Etsy shop. (Hopefully they will be up tomorrow.) I'm really excited about them and can't wait to share them with you a bit later this week!

What have you found lately on Etsy? Working on any exciting new projects? I'd love to hear about them! Enjoy the rest of your week!
