Now that I'm starting to get the hang of this knitting thing, I've been looking through Ravelry for projects I may want to try. Some of these are pretty ambitious, but they are just so gorgeous!!

This Bandana Cowl from The Purl Bee is just wonderful! I have a bit of an obsession with cowls. I wear them constantly during the fall and winter. I'm thinking this one would make a great fall cowl!

I am absolutely in love with this skirt from Holla Knits! It was inspired by Zooey Deschannel from New Girl (aka- one of my favorite shows of all time)! I just love the style of this skirt so much. And the color choice is just great!

I've been looking for a great knitted blanket to make and I think this pattern from Tiny Owl Knits just might be the one! I love all the different colors. And how cute are those little hexigons?? I love everything about this quilt!

I also want to take just  minute to tell you about this great giveaway from One Sheepish Girl. Meredith is giving away the latest issue of Pom Pom Quarterly. I briefly looked through the patterns from Pom Pom Quarterly and I think they are all adorable! Each design is stylish and classy. I'm really hoping I win this one so that I can make all of the projects! :)

Cross-Stitched Box Lid

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

Remember when I showed you those really cool boxes I found at an estate sale? Well..... I just finished cross stitching the first box and I'm thrilled with how it turned out! I chose a lovely floral pattern from the May 2013 issue of Cross Stitcher Magazine. I just love this design!

Now, I've got three more boxes and no idea what I want to put on them...... Any suggestions?

Teaching Myself to Knit

Monday, August 19, 2013

Over the past couple weeks, I have been teaching myself to knit. There has been lots of YouTube videos, unravelling, and frustration. But I am finally starting to get the hang of it. It's been a struggle, but I'm getting there! I have dabbled with knitting in the past, but never stuck with it. Well this time I am determined. I am going to become a knitter. I completed my very first knitting project the other night and I am quite proud of it! I wanted to do something simple that I could sit down and finish in one night. So I decided to make a little pouch for all the tea bags and sugar packets I have floating around my purse. I found a pattern on Ravelry and about two hours later, I had a cute little pouch to tote my tea around in! Seriously, is there anything better than knitting and tea??

After finishing this little guy, I've decided I'm ready to move on to projects that are a bit larger. I've actually got three projects in the works and can't wait to see how they turn out!

Happy knitting!

In Progress

Monday, August 12, 2013

I had every intention of spending this summer working on crafty stuff and keeping up with this blog... But that obviously didn't happen. Instead I've been working at the preschool all summer, going on trips with family and friends, hanging out with my brand new boyfriend, and recovering from Lasik surgery and a VERY dislocated tailbone. I've worked on a few crafty things here and there, but I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. I've also had to close my Etsy shop for the time being. I'm starting graduate school in two weeks and just won't have the time.

Anyways, I've got a few projects in the works that I would like to share with you!

My latest project is one that I am VERY excited about! I found these cool boxes at an estate sale this weekend and thought they would look great with cross stitched tops! I've got four boxes and need to figure out what designs to put on each. I can't wait to see how they turn out!

I also just recently finished a very nerdy crochet project. I love Doctor Who and I love tea. So I decided to combine the two and make a TARDIS mug cozy. I think it turned out really well. One of my best friends and fellow Whovian has already requested I make another one for her. :)

I'm also currently working on teaching myself to knit on circular needles. It's slow going but I'm getting there. Tyler has requested I make him a hat this winter so I've already started practicing.

I've got several more crafty ideas running through my head, but I'm not quite ready to share those yet. I'll be ready to share soon. :) I promise I'll try to keep up with the blog a little more over the next few weeks!

Here's just a few random pictures to show what I've been up to this summer!

That's just a little peek at what I've been up to this summer! Hope yours has been as good as mine! :)
