12 Crafts of Christmas || A Child Is Born! Dish Towel

Sunday, December 21, 2014

Well, this is it. The last post in my 12 Crafts of Christmas series! I must admit, there were times during the past month when I wasn't sure I was going to actually make it to 12 crafts! Coming up with 12 blog-worthy crafts was a bit challenging, but it was so much fun!

I thought I would wrap up the series with a project to remind us all of the reason we celebrate this time of year. It's not about presents or Christmas trees or 12 Christmas crafts. It's about remembering the birth of our Savior. It's about showing love to one another and spending time with family. Please don't get caught up in the rush of Christmastime and forget about what is really important this time of year.

This pattern was developed from the King James Version of Isaiah 9:6 which says, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." I hope this last project will serve to remind you and yours of the true reason for the season! :)

- dish towel (I used a burlap linen dishtowel from Hobby Lobby)
- DMC threads: 310, 935, 936, 924, 926, 3722, 315 (or whatever colors you would like to use)
- embroidery needle
- scissors

- Using two strands of embroidery floss, cross stitch pattern onto fabric. If you use an AIDA fabric, work the pattern across one strand of fabric as usual. If you use a dishtowel similar to mine, you will need to work the pattern across two strands of fabric.

 X = 310
+ = 935
0 = 936
@ = 924
# = 926
? = 3722
% = 315
A printable/downloadable version of this pattern is available here.

Be sure to check out all 12 of the projects in my 12 Crafts of Christmas series!
